As my parents grew older and their health declined, supporting them became more than a responsibility — it became a calling. I saw first-hand how individuals can easily become just another task in overstretched facilities, losing their sense of self in the process.
I watched my mother — a vibrant, independent woman who had spent her life caring for others — struggle with the indignity of impersonal care. The rotating faces, the rushed visits, the lack of genuine connection. It wasn't neglect in the traditional sense, but it wasn't the warmth and attention she deserved either.
That experience changed everything for me. I made a promise: those in our care would be cherished, not just cared for — supported with warmth, respect, and genuine compassion. Every interaction would honour the whole person, not just their medical needs.
My background is in the corporate world, where I held senior leadership positions that taught me the value of organisation, systems, and accountability. In my early career, I was a teacher — a role that shaped my patience, empathy, and deep belief in nurturing others. These two worlds came together when I realised that elder care needed both heart and structure. The answer was clear: personalised, home-based care delivered by people who truly care, backed by the professionalism and standards families deserve.
We chose the name KinCare because family is at the heart of everything we do. "Kin" means family, and that's exactly how we treat every person in our care. When you trust us with your loved one, they become part of our family too.
Today, KinCare Senior Support serves families across Ballito and the KZN North Coast, providing the kind of care I wish had been available for my own parents. Every carer we hire, every care plan we create, and every interaction we have is guided by that original promise — to treat each person as our own.
