Born from a personal journey.
KinCare began with one daughter's promise to her parents - and grew into a calling to care for families across the North Coast.
As her own parents grew older and their health declined, supporting them became more than a responsibility - it became a calling. Sharon saw first-hand how easily a person can become just another task in an overstretched facility, losing their sense of self in the process.
She watched her mother - a vibrant, independent woman who had spent her life caring for others - struggle with the indignity of impersonal care. The rotating faces, the rushed visits, the lack of genuine connection. It wasn't neglect in the traditional sense, but it wasn't the warmth and attention she deserved either.

Sharon's background is in the corporate world, where senior leadership roles taught her the value of organisation, systems and accountability. In her early career she was a teacher - a role that shaped her patience, empathy and deep belief in nurturing others. These two worlds came together when she realised elder care needed both heart and structure: personalised, home-based care delivered by people who truly care, backed by the professionalism families deserve.
We chose the name KinCare because family is at the heart of everything we do. “Kin” means family - and that's exactly how we treat every person in our care. Today, KinCare serves families across Ballito and the KZN North Coast, providing the kind of care Sharon wished had been available for her own parents.
